whoracle @ 03:42 am: ][+ Encoder board
Anyone out there know where one might find a replacement keyboard encoder daughter board? Part 605-X105. My ][+ keyboard starts randomly typing endlessly without me touching it. Tried to reground it with a jumper wire to motherboard GND, but that didn't fix the issue. I could just get the Super Encoder from Briel, but I'd like to keep the ][+ somewhat original. Ideas? Fixes? Cheers.

If you're handy with a soldering iron and know a thing or two about digital logic, you might be able to build one. The Apple II Reference Manual included full schematics for the II+. My paper copy isn't here so I can't point you at a page, but it's online here. Hope this helps!

Thanks Pete, the schematic look pretty straighforward. Finding the AY-5-3600 ROM might be tricky though.

Hmm, you might be right about that. The data sheet isn't hard to come by, though, and from the looks of it, you could probably hack a PIC or Atmel microcontroller to perform the same function.

...though the "somewhat original" requirement gets blasted then. Maybe find a toasted Apple II+ as a donor?
